For the Word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12).
At the heart and core of ServeNow is something called: God’s Word for God’s People. There are many believers and entire churches in various parts of the world that don’t have access to or can’t afford their own bibles or any discipleship resources. What began with a goal of helping 100 churches in India in 2013, has turned into a network of 1,400 churches in India, Nepal, Uganda and Ukraine in 2015!
Many of these are small churches of no more than 50-100 people. Often they are located in slums, remote villages, poor communities, jungles etc. (click here for more in-depth information: God’s Word for God’s People). ServeNow has worked closely with these churches and pastors for over a period of 5-7 years, providing a series of 30 booklets called The Basic Things You Need to Know. These booklets are just 32 pages each, written in a simple way at a level anyone can understand. They are also translated in the language of the people we serve. The first four in the series are pictured here in English:
Every week we receive stories from around the world of how these books impact people’s lives. For example, just this week we received the following testimony from a youth pastor in Ukraine whose home-group is studying these booklets: These brochures are a great tool and beneficial in the study of basic fundamental topics related to salvation, the person of Jesus Christ, the Word of God and prayer. They are good for new believers as well as people who have known the Lord a long time. First, this material helps to quickly learn the first steps in the Word of God. Secondly, it is very useful in clarifying the basic things of the Bible. In addition, by repeating these truths, the brothers are equipped to preach the Gospel to unbelievers. I use these booklets to study with my home-group.
Here’s more about the response from my home-group: “Gregory, 21 years old, was inspired to pray more and glorify God after studying the book. Vyacheslav was impressed that God will never remember his sins, even those from many years ago for which he was very embarrassed. It helped him to forgive himself. Miroslava, 21 years old, just came to the Lord, affirming that she cannot save herself. It is only by grace, through faith, and this is the gift of God. She saw that all people need to repent, so that sins may be forgiven, and each may receive salvation.
