5 Powerful Prayers for Ukraine

Russia waged war on Ukraine 6 months ago, and the protracted conflict appears to be no end in sight. Vladimir Putin just signed a decree to increase the Russian armed forces by 137,000 soldiers by January 1, 2023. The order marks a significant increase to replenish the Russian military. This decree projects a continued animosity to peace in Ukraine.

Our hearts continue to break for our dear Ukrainian brothers and sisters in Christ, and God reminds us of the power of prayer. In all honesty, ServeNow has seen a significant decrease in financial support for Ukraine. As Russia’s war prolongs and needs rise daily, our staff is dropping to our knees in prayer. We humbly invite you into these prayers. Thank you in advance, for praying and asking for God’s presence in Ukraine. Here are five powerful prayers rooted in Scripture:

Protection

Lord God, we thank You for being a Father that fights for us (Deuteronomy 3:22). Thank you for Your protection daily. We come to You today, bowing in our hearts and asking for Your protection over the nation of Ukraine and its citizens. We acknowledge You as our God that brings an abundant life (John 10:10). Surround Ukrainians with Your Divine hedge of protection, and watch over their family and property. Encamp Your angels around those who fear You and deliver them from harm’s way (Psalm 34:7). Give them Your strength and might, dress us in Your armor so we can stand against the schemes of the devil. (Ephesians 6:10-12). Let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them sing for joy. May You shelter them, that those who love Your name may exult in You and bring Glory to You. Lord God, we believe in Your promises to protect and watch over lives both now and forevermore (Psalm 121:7-8). In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Peace

Abba Father, all things are possible to You (Mark 14:36). We come before You, to cast out all worries, anxieties, and fear because You care; carry the burdens of those in Ukraine (1 Peter 5:7). We believe that in every situation, by prayer and petition, You listen to our requests. We request Your peace that surpasses all understanding, to guard hearts and minds in Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:6) You indeed provide perfect peace to those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in You (Isaiah 26:3). Give Your words when someone does not know when to speak or pray (Luke 12:12). Master, we trust in Your power to rebuke the rage of storms; we ask for a Divine sense of calm to those in Ukraine (Luke 8:24). Lord God, You are the Hope and Refuge for the oppressed (Psalm 9:9). May those in Ukraine find Your Hope and Refuge today. In Your Name, Amen.

Defeat the Enemy

Almighty God, You are the Maker and Ruler of the heaven and earth, who remains faithful to His promises forever (Psalm 146:6). God’s Word says, “that if we ask anything according to His will, He will hear us” (1 John 5:14-15) – align Your will to be done and hear our requests to defeat the enemy. We ask for Your help. Lord Jesus, transform the hearts and minds of those who perpetuate this evil war in Ukraine (Romans 12:12). We pray for world leaders to meet You and find salvation, that their hearts will change. Grant wisdom to world leaders, who call on Your name, to humble themselves and turn from their wicked ways (2 Chronicles 7:14). With You on our side, who shall we fear? (Psalm 118:6). Arise, LORD! Deliver Ukraine, my God! Strike all the enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked (Psalm 3:7). According to Your good and gracious will, end this time of violence, war, and death. Gracious God, we pray for all Ukrainians to relieve the suffering from war and show mercy. May they know Your loving care and protection. In Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Provision

You are Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides. Lord, we thank You for being a Father of provision and we gratefully acknowledge You. We continue to praise You because You prepare a way and provide during times of wilderness (Psalm 43:19). Lord, we thank you that you know needs and provide. Help us not be anxious about food or clothing, but to trust that you will provide (Matthew 6:31-32). Let those in Ukraine, trust that You shall supply all needs according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Lord, you are our Shepherd, I shall not be in want. Thank You for taking care of ServeNow and the most vulnerable in Ukraine (Psalm 23:1). We request that You restore what was destroyed and provide plenty, so Your Name will be praised for how You provide (Joel 2:25-26). In Your Name, Jesus Christ.

Growth of God’s Church

Name above all Names, we come before You right now and pray to build up Your Church, that the gates of hell will not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18). Lord Jesus, outpour Your Spirit upon the Church (Psalm 110:3). Lord, use Your sons and daughters, Your old men and young men, to glorify Your Name (Joel 2:28). Our Savior, we thank You for Word that reminds us that all power and authority has been given to us (Luke 9:1). Lord work again in the days of Apostles, with mighty signs, wonders, and miracles that will baffle human or scientific knowledge where people cannot deny Your name (Acts 4:16). Help our dear Ukrainian brothers and sisters in Christ to be Your witness and love those around them. Allow them to show a Love that only comes from You (1 John 4:7). Lord, we come to you to remember those lost and scared of what’s happening in Ukraine – we pray for them to Find You and learn of your free gift of eternal life in You alone (Romans 6:23, John 3:16). We stand on Your Word, that no weapon formed against Your church shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). In Jesus’ powerful name, we pray. Amen.

We hope these prayers will encourage Your Faith and see the power of prayer in action. Feel free to add in the name of ServeNow’s National Directors, Tanya and Andrey Shypgunov, who live through difficult circumstances and still serve showing God’s love every day. Please join us in echoing these five powerful prayers to see God’s name lifted high.

Thanks again for all of your financial support and prayers. We trust that God will provide to save lives, shelter the homeless, feeds the hungry, and restores hope to the hopeless. Your partnership is a blessing to us, and those who we serve in Ukraine.
