COVID-19 Response Update
Durga is 80 years old and lives in a temporary plastic structure in a slum in South East Asia. After her husband died a few years ago, her sons left her on her own and she must take care of herself. To earn some money for buying her daily food, Durga begs on the highway near her hut. The lockdown in the country means that she has gone many nights and days without food. Her neighbors sometimes offer her a meal, but with their own families to take care of, and no income whatsoever, the neighbors too cannot spare much. She was shaking and shivering when we gave her a package of groceries, which is enough to last her for at least another 15 days.
ServeNow Medical Clinic’s Aid Flood Victims
“My house was totally submerged in water and my sons and I spent over a week in waist-deep water, trying to salvage whatever we could. The exposure to contaminated water has caused me to contract a skin disease. I can’t afford to see a doctor as I lost my money in the floods. This camp was sent by God to my village and today I saw the doctor and told her all my issues and even got some free medicine. Thank you for giving us a ray of hope in dark times.”
Medical Clinic Flood Stories & Winter Covering Need
“We were hesitant to enter the camp as we thought it was only for Christians, but we now know that it was for the people from all communities and religions. We are very grateful to ServeNow for providing us with medicine and medical attention. They were a Godsend. Our health has been deteriorating due to the diseases spread through stagnant water and also the unavailability of food, supplies and medicine.”
