Why Micro-Enterprise programs?
Our Micro-Enterprise programs intend to impact some of the poorest believers, who live within poverty and are in dire need of financial assistance, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Africa is considered one of the poorest continents in the world, and 47% of its population living on the poverty line (The Borgen Project). According to the World Bank, the international poverty line is currently set at $1.90 a day. Poverty is considered “not having enough material possessions or income for a person’s basic needs. Absolute poverty is the complete lack of resources to provide the basic life necessities including food, clean water, shelter, and clothing.”
Hope Rises in Darkness
In the most dire situation caused by the Corona virus pandemic and other global crisis, we have witnessed hope rising up and smiles returning on the faces of those who have been most affected, as we continue to do our part to be witnesses for Christ, both in word and deed as we cater for the needs of our brothers and sisters globally. Through these acts, we want to see Jesus’ love touching and changing lives. As one of our brothers in Africa so well said: “I have now understood that Jesus of the city is also Jesus of the village”.
A Gift of Love in Time of Crisis
And as the pastor explained: “We brought her a bag of rice and a bag of beans which should be enough for her family for at least three weeks. We listened to the touching and moving story of her life, with children and a husband, in a camp without water and sanitation, with mosquitoes which exposes them to many diseases including malaria and worms. We helped her set up the tent as it was getting late. We fellowshipped together in the little tent. Then we prayed for her and her children. What a beautiful time of fellowship and ministry. She said that we were the first to reach out to her”.
