What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, “Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled” notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. James 2:14-17
After returning from a fantastic trip to South Asia our team is always so moved by the impact the ministry of ServeNow is having in each country. Many people have grown skeptical about mission impact and humanitarian aid, but over and again we see that that good deeds can often open hearts to the Good News, and that great results can take place with little money. There is hope in this world and God is very much active and alive in transforming lives!
We have had requests from our staff in South Asia for winter coverings for the approaching winter. While we have been able to send some and our team took some with us on our recent trip, there is still a great need.
Recently, we provided winter coverings for about 800 children in different locations. In addition, we gave out blankets to marginalized people in two locations. Children were coming to get the winter coverings by walking 3 hours on foot. One of the Mayor’s of a municipality where we gave out winter coverings shared, “I am very thankful to ServeNow for providing winter coverings such as hats, jackets and pants for these poorest of children, which will help them be protected from the cold. We thank you for doing such great humanitarian work to save their lives.”
The principle of the school said, “These winter coverings will allow the children to come to school on a regular basis. During the cold weather, many children do not come to school because of lack of warm clothes to wear. Thank you ServeNow Nepal for your great effort in not only providing winter coverings but in also helping and encouraging these children to come to school regularly.”
After receiving a blanket, an 80 year old women said: “I am so happy and now see you as my own son! My family neglected and did not care for me, but you have cared for me as my son. This blanket will keep me safe during the winter and keep me warm. Thank you!”
