God's Word for God's People

God’s Word

“At last I have a Bible, and I want to read it every day. Oh, how I love to know about my Savior Jesus Christ! Thank you for giving this book about Jesus.”

At the heart of ServeNow is “God’s Word for God’s New People.” When ServeNow began in 2013, the goal was to provide bibles to churches in remote villages and the slums of India. In these hard to reach areas, 90% of the pastors come from a Hindu, Muslim or Buddhist background. When they heard the Gospel and placed their faith in Christ, they began to share their own experience and knowledge with everyone they came in contact with! Since these pastors were the only ones with a copy of God’s Word, other believers in Christ were coming to the pastors to hear more about God’s Word.

Many of those we serve either cannot afford or do not have access to scriptures. An example is *Ranjun, who is pictured and quoted above. We want to ensure that every new believer has a copy of God’s Word. As you can tell from his quote, holding the books close to his chest, God’s Word is valued and cherished when received!

What began as a goal of serving 100 churches with their own copy of God’s Word, quickly turned into 700 churches the first year in India alone! Today, it has grown to a network of 1,400 in India, Nepal, Ukraine and Uganda. It started with God’s Word, but it didn’t stop there…

Basic Things

“I always wished there could be a simple guide to better understand the Bible and Christianity. Today my wish has come true.”

As we began to serve some of the poorest and most remote churches in India, our founder was troubled by the fact that many of these new believers, and even the pastors themselves, had very little basic biblical knowledge. One day, he sensed the Lord saying to him “small doses.” Thus, the “Basic Things You Need to Know” book series was born!

These booklets are only 32 pages each. Every couple of months, over a period of 5-7 years, we continue to equip the churches we are serving with a new booklet in their own language. The first four in the series are as pictured below:

Transformed Lives

“During our study through the book about Jesus, I was led to do a further study through scripture on forgiveness. As a result, God touched two sisters in our church who had family-related grudges. With tears, they forgave each other and reconciled. Several other church members were convicted to forgive each other as well. It is such a joy to see members filled with love towards each other!”

Nearly every week we receive amazing testimonies, like the one above, regarding the impact of the “Basic Things” book series. Lives are being transformed by the basic truths of God’s Word as God’s Spirit works in the hearts of his people! Members are sharing these books with their families, friends and communities. As a result, people are coming to Christ, maturing in their walk with Christ, and the church is growing!

Elijah Nsubuga testifying3

“My name is Elijah. I am 68 years old. I accepted Christ as my personal Savior after reading the “Basic Things You Need to Know About Prayer” booklet given to me. I was addicted to alcohol and had abandoned my family by spending most of my time in the bar. I have had many believers witness to me about Christ, but I had not been convicted of sin, judgment and repentance until I read the book. I was totally transformed in my spiritual life, physical body and family life.”
